INTRODUCTION Here’s the latest labor of agitational love from my fertile brain. Many, many zines have been published since the last Thought Bombs, which was published last spring. I’ve reconciled with Ali Khalid Abdullah, who I worked with very closely for a long time. We’ll start working up PPWC (Political Prisoners of War Coalition) again, In the face of the stepped up war against conscious prisoners and the truth, in general. ABC Network is growing and new groups are forming. Chicago ABC has a new P.O. Box and fresh energy. You can write them at: chicagoabc@hotmail.com chicagoabe.org Chicago ABC / P. 0. Box 1544 / Chicago, IL 60690 With the FBI specifically targeting prisoners who have "become radicalized while in prison” as a big part of their domestic "War on Terror" what I have been trying to say and do is becoming more apparent to many people. The "War" is one being fought against the truth, for the truth is revolutionary and the authorities do not want their slaves to become educated, and thus empowered and a positive asset to their communities. They’d prefer that we continue to be atomized and lacking in solidarity. For, with insight and knowledge comes courage and resolve. This is bad news for authorities, who wish for us to calmly accept their lies and do nothing, while they steal and kill and make suffer throughout our deteriorating world. Many of the more articulate teachers are being horribly abused, throughout the vast Amerikkkan gulag archipeligo. You can try to ignore it or step up and contribute to the cause. I’ve made my choice. Have you? Take care! Your Relentless Agitator, Anthony Rayson

My name is Anthony Rayson and I’m an Abolitionist from Chicago, where Fred Hampton and Mark Clark were martyred. Tiinois is also the home of Elifah P. Lovejoy, who preached anti-slavery in Southern Tllinois. Three times his printing presses were destroyed for calling out the truth. One night, he reduced the townspeople to tears with his eloquence and defiance.
The next night, he and his brother fought to the death defending the cause, while attacked by local vigilantes. Other so-called "whites" transcended this racist country, too. William Lioyd Garrison, Wendell Phillips - both souljahs to the core. But the greatest of them all was John Brown, who took this slave country and shook it by the neck!
See, there is no such thing s "white people.” There is o Whiteland that we come from! There is no white culture! The only things that are "white" are vile lies, racism and oppression. Whiteness must be abolished - this whole & worldwide system of racist oppression must be ended! 1 work with consclous prisoners. We want to get the truth out of the gulags and empowerment back in. We have 2 saying: "Turn the Tron Houses of Oppression Into Schools of Libération!” For, slavery has never ended. The 13" Amendnent which purportedly "ended" slavery, specifically targets prisoners for endless human slavery! One-third of all young black men In thelr twenties are ensnaried In the prison system. In some citles, the figure is well over 50%. There is a frenzy to Incarcerate the black community. There 1s 2 helocaust going on in the black community. The prisons must be abolished and our brothers and sisters set freel The most brilliant and perceptive thinkers, the strongest writers. and the most talented artists are locked-down in the supermax hellholes of a vast Amerikkkan gulag archipelligo. These are the George Jackson’s and Malcolm X’s of today! These folks are the revolutionaries I have the privilege to work closely with, Rashid, Khaifani, Tallb, Zolo, Abdul, Ramona - these names should beedme s familiar to you as your own child, to everyone who dreams of genuine freedon in the here and now. If you want the truth, you go to the most oppressed - the slaves of today, our prisoners! ‘A man or woman’s ultimate worth Is two-fold. How well they treated those closely around them and how hard they fought for truth, justice, freedom and equality. It has nothing to do with how much shiny metal you possess! You See, 1 may not have much protective melanin in my skin, but 1 still got a black soull 1 have my self-respect and I know who the enemy s - the racist government and all the elaborate systems that support It - the legal system of Kidnapping and warehousing, the military who terrorize the world, the economic system, based on wage-slavery - all of it! Tt has to be crashed by those who are living amidst t! The U.S. only has 4.5% of the world’s population, yet usurps 30% of her natural resources. That mearis % of the people of Earth (1.5 billior) are left to starve to death. Even with all this obscene wealth, tens of millions of Americans live In destitution, poverty, without adequate health care or education, or live In a box on the street. 2.2 million live In government cages, often far from their loved ones!
So, I’ve come down here today with ane of my homies to bring forth this powerful information from the prisons that everyone needs to know - especially black folks, who are the main target of these bloodthirsty judges and prosecutors. We must arm ourselves with the truth to help guide us in our struggle. For, the truth is revolutionary and the more you know, the stronger you become and the more useful to others. Those bravely fighting behind the razor wire are looking to us to shed our apathy, ignorance and lethargy and organize our communities in self-sustaining, positive ways. Working together we can figure this out and slay the beast that is menacing a//of the multi-colored children of Africa. For, Africa is Grandmother to us all! Thank you. Zolo’s death sentence was thrown ou the fisttime because he received “incflective asistance from counsel"; he had to accept inexperienced court-appointed counsel duc Tack of funds. More than 90% of the defendants charged with cupital crimes are indigent and “incticct assistance of counsel® is usually what they get. Our Real Enemies Speak English! As the environment slowly increases its homeostatic decline, with such alarming disasters as rapid-fire hurricanes, devastating major earthquakes, catastrophic tsunamis, ruinous droughts, etc. the (inability of govemments - especially the super top-down U.S. ‘government, will be exposed as not just useless and ineffectual in dealing with these crises, but also a hindrance to genuine relef efforts and ultimately, to the sustainability of life itself.
Hurricane Katrina was very instructive in this respect. Money earmarked for the bolstering of the dikes protecting New Orleans (and many other infrastructure needs) was diverted to the killing fields of Iraq. Days of waiting (and dying) of the flood victims, who were hungry, thirsty, sick, elderly and (mostly) black, was for naught. Many died waiting for rescue. The bodies were just left there to float and get bloated. Opportunistic police, heavily arméd ahd having the best rescue” vehicles, honed in on the high-ticket electronics stores, not to protect them, but to loot them. The word came down to switch from rescuing people (or even collecting the dead) to protecting property from the rabble (desperate poor blacks) and to shoot looters. And indeed, they killed several people. Other cops just disappeared, as FEMA - Federal Emergency Management Agency - led by a hack who formerly oversaw the judging. of the aristocratic sport of horse jumping - didn’t respond for days and then, inadequately. This was a rude awakening for all Americans. This shows everybody how dangerous and futile (and even counter- productive) such a political system truly is. People desperate and waiting for rescue are herded into the Superdome, left to fend for themselves, or in the case of some hospices and nursing homes, abandoned to diel The image of wide-eyed, dead, bloated bodies, tied to the light poles in New Orleans with a tag on their foot, will forever be etched into all of our minds and those around the world. Even destitute Bangladesh offered to help, upon seeing this human tragedy unfold in the supposedly almighty U.S. of Al When Cuba generously offered 1,500 doctors focused and trained for such calamities, the U.S. brusquely refused them. Cuba has hurricanes rake their country more than anywhere else and they have effective evacuation plans to ensure that those in harm’s way are bussed away from dangerous areas before the hurricanes hit. This, even though the U.S. has had a decades-long embargo on their nearby island. Where there is a will, there is way. In America, you must have money to make it to safety. Katrina, like all other slow-moving hurricanes, gave several days wamning, that due to the addictive dependence on money in this country, those most. vuinerable, the poor black folks in New Orleans, were unable to take advantage of. This is criminal negligence, racist and class based. Itis what has always defined America. Putting Rosa Park’s body in the cotunda of the White House, does not balm over systemic injustice. Nl system was in place in Hawaii and they were alerted, but they did not ‘war those in harm’s way. They said they didn’t have a *phone number" 10 call. How callous is that? Also, they did not want to anger political officials, if their dire wamning proved less lethal than they had predicted. The mere $1 milion price tag for this equipment was withheld from people in the affected areas in Asia. The reason being that the money for this equipment was not available. Three hundred thousand lives ‘were lost, denied the chance at safety, for about 3 cents person! It’s like starving children. They starve, even though food can readily be provided, only because their parents do not have the money to pay forit. Meanwhile, back in the U.S. where 4.5% of the world’s population usurps 30% of the world’s resources (and brutally incarcerates 25% of her prisoners) 1/3 of-our children are obesel Huge amounts of food are thrown away at restaurants and stores and farmers are paid not to grow crops, etc. There are even laws to prevent the retrieval of such till edible food (dumpster diving,) Its a cruel, evil system. Recently, the Voices in the Wildemess people, based in Chicago, have been fined for the *criminal felony* of bringing medicine to Iraq during the decade- plus long infanticide the U.S. forced upon this devastated country, after their ghastly war of 1991. Genocide posing as "democracy. Getting back to the meltdown of our planet and the U.S. system’s ‘complicty, ponder this. Recently, it was discovered that enormous peat bogs, the size of France and Germany combined are thawing in Siberia, releasing enormous amounts of methane gas (cow gas) that is very harmful to the delicate balance of our atmosphere. This will fuel the acceleration of the phenomenon known as “global warming’ that the government is denying the importance of. The U.S. govemment does. nothing to halt or siow this catastrophe in the making, aithough every other country in the worid signed the Kyoto tresty to begin to deal with hydrocarbon emission into the atmosphere. As usual, the U.S. generates a much higher percentags of these deadly gases than their population should warrant. SUV’s keep being churned out and poison ‘spews into the air, as America sits in traffic jams, oblivious o the consequences. The snows of Mount Kilimanjaro are no more and even the North Pole is no longer solidly frozen in spots. Chunks of glaciers the size.of Rhode Island have broken off from the Arctic and Antarctica, cast adrift and are slowly melting... Mother Earth is suffering from a dreadful fever. Anyway, lets got back to New Orleans. In the hours and days that followed the rupture of her dikes, many, many people were rescued, mostly by spontaneous groups of rescuers, neighbors, other citizens and dedicated professionals. Thedire predictions of the domothing offcials (10,000 dead) were infiated, as they did not take into account the resourcefuiness and courage of Gitizens - acting outside the control of govemment. Undoubtedly, the instinct to survive also gave many
people the strength to rescue themselves and those around them, too. Like during the chaotic aftermath of the suspicious World Trade Center attacks - where 3,000 Americans died - many people in New Orleans were rescued (and managed to save themselves) by 57 circumventing, ignoring or defying offiial instructions. t’s astounding that the U.S. govemment after decades of massive “defense" spending of many trilions of dollars was unable to stop or otherwise interdict these hijackers, played out on live television. The only plane that was stopped from its deadly mission, was taken out by the people on board that plane themselves, with no help from the governmentl President Bush went hiding in the mountains out west and Cheney took refuge in his fully equipped Dr. No style mountain command redoubt - and stayed there for several weeks! More than a jitle suspicious, the Bush cabel had impatient plans all set and ready 10 go for the clampdown at home (Patriot Act) which they shoved down a sycophantic Congress, more worried about renaming French fries as “freedom fries.” Invasion plans were also dusted off, to invade...raal This, even though 15 of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia and not one was from Iraq. In New Orleans, once the criminal bumblers of government regained their bogus authority, doctors and other relief workers who came to offer their services were prevented from assisting people who so desperately welcomed and desired their help. After all, people can’t be allowed to see the power and goodness of genuine mutual aid, that no government has ever had anything to do with, that needs no government to function effectively and adaptively. More hurricanes swept through the gulf devastating Mexico, Nicaragua, Cuba and Florida. Instead of mobilizing the enormous resources and capabilities which the U.S. possesses, the government’s focus was directed at increasing the vile assaults in Iraq, confirming a rightist Supreme Court nominee and trying to slip in an unqualified crony for the "women’s seat." Cheney’s boy (Scooter Libby) is in hot water for outing a CIA operative - the wife of an ambassadorl The mass Kkilling and systemic ecanomic empire that causes so much human misery and the degradation of our Earth aren’t even considered as “crimes.” In Florida, Hurricane Wilma came and devastated huge areas along. the Atlantic coast. Once again, the govemment response was class and race-based, feeble and sluggish. Govemor Jeb Bush (the *smart’ one) cried crocodile tears and many areas were still washed outand without power, food, water and sheiter ‘’several days later. The class nature of *rescue and reconstruction” was made apparent by President Bush who came down for a Katrina photo op and promised that we can all be rest assured that Senator Trent Lott’s mansion would be quickly rebuitt. Meanwhile, the poor from New Orleans and

Slavery is still partand parcel to the Constitution (13" Amendment.) Chattel slavery was ended, but prison slavery was continued, as was wage-slavery. Some "democracyl® What good is *maiority rule® when most people don’t vote, many can’t vote (prisoners, ex-felons, illegal aliens, people under 18, etc.) the choices are one corporate Tweedle Dee Dee or Tweedie Dee Dum and the electorate is s0 somnambulized politically that % of Americans don’t even know where Iraq is??? The whole thing is a charade, orchestrated by powerful interests and has nothing to do with what Americans really want or truly need. Now that much of the slave labor to profit U.S. corporations has been "outsourced" to India, China, etc., young black men especially are of no use to this oppressive system, except as soldiers, police, prison ‘guards, and most often, prisoners. For, each prisoner is worth $30,000 per year to the highly lucrative punishment industry. Prison stocks on the New York Stock Exchange are highly valuable and the penal institution is booming, The most powerful unions in many states are prison guard.unions. It guaranteed profit, as all monies are ‘guaranteed, having been extorted from citizens every year in heavy taxes. Half of-all drug arrests are now for marijuana. So, the goverment is priitizing the criminalizing of potheads, of which there are several million in the’U.S..Even cancer patients, AIDS patients, etc. who need it medicinally are targeted by this demented goverment. Countless invasions throughout the world, propping up of dictators, and the training of death squads define American foreign policy, not "human rights* or *democracy” or any other.of the gargantuan lies hammered into the American people. At the end of the American Revolution, 100,000 people fled to Canada. These were freed slaves, Native Americans, indentured servants, British loyalists, French-speaking people, etc. They were fleeing the inevitable repression and re-enslavement that would be forced upon them, had they stayed and been captured. Some folks stayed and fought the U.S. govemment, as they had done ever since the European invasion. Insurgent "Maroons" made up of freed/escaped slaves, natives, indentured servants, and others criminalized by the U.S. economic and political system, set up “autonomous zones" in the Dismal Swamps of Virginia and North Carolina. Others were based in the Florida Everglades, the Caribbean and elsewhere. Their resistance to the slave country of America lasted for centuries! You won’tlearn about that in school, however. Before humanity can begjn to reverse this cataclysmic slide of natural disasters, nuclear wars, economic tyranny, slavery, starvation, fundamentalism and so forth, people must rid themselves of their blind
trust in government - especially people in the U.S. who are by far, the 26 most politically comatose people on the planet! Once this happens, the true nature of political reality can be leamed and used to craft people- oriented solutions. If this realization does not successfully occur, more and more, the people of the world will suffer tragedy upon tragedy, while being, manipulated by their government to kill and be killed, making enemies of their brothers, besed on race and other phony categories. While we die and suffer, the Dick Cheney’s of the worid will continue 10 live lavish lives, accumulating more and more weaith and be responsible for more death and destruction. It’s high time we realize who our real enemies are and who is trying to deny our children a Jivable, decent and sustainable future. Prisons — RHU, SHU, MSU Units: Are All the Same — Designed to Subjugate, Degrade, Divide & Conquer and to Try to Psychologically Impair It’s Prisoners!!! 27 ‘The daily dehumanization that occurred at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq —was perpetuated and enthusiastically maintained by us. soldiers and their partners in crime, their “superiors.” I’s but an extension of a long history of ‘mental, emotional, psychological and physical abuses the prisoners in the United States... both state and federal prisons have endured and experienced for many, many years. ‘This was and is caused by those who have control over our lives ~ the so-called “correctional officers” und their policy-making “superiors.” People in general must understand that whenever there is a reporting of 8 prison disturbance, uprising, riot, or however the officials and media decide 1o label it, the bottom line is, these are signs made by prisoners — human beings living in these u.s. prisons, that something is seriously and terribly wrong, a sign of desperation 1o reach out o those who are listening that we ‘must resort to these actions to address or air real intemal prison grievances and problems, as all other avenues of redress have failed or been of no avail. ‘The exposure the prisoners received at Abu Ghraib is certainly the sort of ‘exposure both men and women prisoners in the u.s. have sacrificed so much for in the various struggle to expose the intolerable conditions and harsh treatment they are experiencing throughout their imprisonment. Fortunately, the prisoners at Abu Ghraib did not reach the stage of heightened resistance to require atteation and exposure was much quicker than usual due to the intemational spollight in the area 1o expose the daily ‘humiliations at the hands of their sadistic captors. But, indeed, there was “exposure,” “sttention” and “coverage” and due to “pressure” eforts were ‘made to climinate the injustices and dehumanizing treatment. ‘Which is the motivating and political gist of this particular article and that is, each state in the u.s. possessing of concerned citizens interested in what’s happening in the prison system, need to o al that is humanly possible 10 “expose” elevale aitention, Consciousness, coverage and pressurc appropriale. political figures and representatives to push for senate hearings, investigations, and real resolutions that will eliminatc the injustices and dehumanizing treatment in our own prison system. There arc a great number of Charles Grainer-types here at the SCI-Greene and in every prison in the us. tate and foderal. 1 closing, T will say there are many things that people can do in support of prisoners, prison issucs, family and friends of prisoners, in a positive and meaningful way. First and foremost i initiative and communication, opening up a dialogue with a prisoner or one of the many prisoners’ community support groups and human rights coalitions in your community. ‘Waorking with these coalitions, groups and organizations is oot only just organizing around prison issucs, but it also means involvement on Various ‘positive social community issues o a grassroots level. Who’s The Terrorist? By Ward Churchill 3z Once again what I have said has been turned into the opposite of itself. First, Dan Caplis, Craig Silverman and numerous other right-wing media spinmeisters asserted that I "advocated” terrorist attacks on the United States in my Op-Ed piece of Sept. 12, 2001. Even a casual reading of that piece, as well as the 300-page book On the Justice of Roosting Chickens in which I more fully explicated and documented my argument, reveals that I did not advocate such attacks. Rather, I pointed out that they were and wil continue to be the inevitable result of a U.S. foreign policy that disregards the rule of law and results in massive death and destruction abroad. Next, the dynamic duo and their colleagues attempted to discredit me through an endless stream of personal attacks, These have falled because the facts, even though not reported in the media, do not support their assertions. Now, in both a paid ad and a prominently featured Op-Ed piece March 5 in the News (“Churchill’s active advocacy of violence demands his firing”), Caplis and Silverman have resorted to the outright lie that I have actively sought to incite "violent revolution.” 1 have done no such thing. To the contrary, what I have consistently advocated over the years is the rule of law. The great bulk of my scholarly work has been devoted to documenting the United States’ disregard for law and the resulting violence it has perpetrated both domestically and internationally. I believe that such practices inevitably breed violence in response, and that the most effective way to ensure the security of all peoples Is adherence to the Constitution and International law, particularly the laws of war and fundamental human rights law.
As citizens, It s our collective responsibility to ensure such compliance with law, This is the actual meaning of the quote on Arabs misrepresented by Caplis and Silverman in both their ad and their Op-Ed. My point was that it is our fob to halt the criminal conduct of the U.S. government, Tather than leaving the task to those from other countries Who suffer the consequences of its lflegalities. 22 Following the position aruculated by Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson at Nuremberg in 1945, I believe that we have not only the right but the legal obligation to compel lawful behavior from the government that Is acting in our name. 1 document the systemic violence perpetrated by the U.S. government In the hope that Americans will take this Fesponsibilty to heart and use polltical means to change government policy. I would vastly prefer that this happen Shrough nonviolent means. However, 1 cannot say that honviolence Is the only legitimate response to systemic violence. The principle of self-defense Is not mysterious: When one s subjected to aggresslon, It Is the perpetrator, not the victim, who dictates the terms of engagement. Although I am plainly no pacifist, 1 have never advocated terrorist attacks on Wall Street, downtown Seattle, or anywhere else. To make it appear otherwise, Caplis and Siiverman have taken material out of context and turned it on its head. My comments in this regard, made to a small group of young anarchists gathered In a Seattle bookstore, ent to the idea that they would not accomplish anything useful by marginalizing themselves and engaging in random acts of sabotage along the social periphery. Drawing upon German theorist Rudi Dutschke’s concept of "a long march through the institutions," I therefore proposed the alternative that they attempt to work from ithin the institutional setting, as I myself have done. The *weapons” I referred to were young people’s own consclousness and capacity to transmit it. Along the way, 1 also pointed out that as relatively privileged Euro- Americans, they were ideally situated to undertake such a project.
Caplis and Silverman are seeking for their own reasons to con the public into believing that I am an active proponent of terrorism. This is not only false, it is extraordinarily " dangerous. By framing my statements as they have, and then repeatedly broadcasting their spin to a broad audience, there is an obvious possibility that they might actually precipitate an act of terror by some unbalanced individual. Should this turn out to be the case, the responsibility will be theirs, not mine. Ward Churchill is a professor of ethnic studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. This is a writte interview submitted by True, aka James E. Scott, to Comrade Anthony Rayson on 6 - 22 - 05 1. Your name and reputation is pretty well known in the Anarchist milieu. How would you describe your position in the struggle? Answer: 1 like to think of myself as the guy in the sub- basement of the underground, with a bucket and a mop! I was mentored by serious anarchists into heavy prisoner support, and for that 1 will be forever gratefull I believe that the voices of revolt, here in Amerika, are screaming loud & dlear, from the gulags. It’s a plain no-brainer to focus one’s attention on this explosion of information and empowerment. It’s the epicenter of the struggle in this country, no’question. To collaborate with these Brothers & Sisters is very fulfilling and I feel they are my own family. My position is moving the struggle forward, plain & simple! Being direct, dealing with present days issues in a truly anarchist fashion and demonstrating consistent solidarity, mutual aid and so forth, “legitimizes” my position, regardiess of what anybody might say, one way or the other. So, I don’t worry about my "position” and just do serious work, on a daily basis. 2. As an African in the U.$., why would you say you embraced Anarchy over a singular movemnent, such as Black Nationalism? Answer: It’s interesting that you ask this question, because actually, people would call me "white." I’m a low-melanin dude, but my heart is black as coall_John Brown was a *white" man, too! Doesn’t matter! We’re all from Africa anyway. I don’t suffer the physical oppression of being Black in America, but I suffer injustice psychologically, as I see it all around me. I approach revolt not from a position of desperation personally, but as a desperately needed phenomenon for the continuation of life itself and the ending of oppression for countiess billions of people, here on Earth. Anarchy is plain freedom, justice and equality, really. It’s plain-spoken truth about political reality. It’s all about supporting positive relations among people and opposing coercive, lie-based power structures. It’s an open-ended
q1 opportunity to get down! Black Nationalism is a legitimate response to centurles of enslavement, by this white settler regime. I’m no nationalist, but rather, an internationalist. 1 do feel people can attain an anti-authoritarian, gender equality seeking, freedom way of thinking, through several avenues, and thus, deserving of serious solidarity and mutual aid. You can call it anything you want, but if it is based on providing the needs of people, not preying on others, sustaining the planet, and so forth, It deserves support. Our enemies are very dangerous and we must focus our attention on stopping their predation. 20" century labels or struggles, antagonisms or whatever are history. If and when we are able to stop these mass global killers, then we can argue over Ideology. For now, it’s "all hands on deck” and 1 feel genuine anarchism is open-ended enough to provide a strong springboard for thought and action - at least for me. It doesn’t limit your thinking or goals. 3. Speaking of that particular topic, with a Black, if you will, high ranking white house official, a Black billionaire, and several Black millionaires, what would you say the state of "Black America" is?
Answer: The white power structure has learned that even though they may still “hate” black people and make sure the institutions funnel them at a holocaust rate into the gulags, cause despair, impoverishment and conflict in their Yz communities and so forth, these Toms come in handy as window dressing, at the 17 course state dinners. Colin Powell greases the Irag War by lying at the U.N. Jesse Jackson puts up shadow puppet resistance, while raking in millions. Oprah tells everyone how to live, sitting on top of a billion dollars while many starve to death, are being bombed and shot or incarcerated. Clarence Thomas gives the Supreme Court a "diverse" veneer, as he rubber Stamps the judicial repression of his people. Even popular hip-hop stars like P. Diddy, shill for corporations (Diet Pepsi.) The real Malcolm X’s & George Jackson’s have already been murdered or are prisoners. So, until those on the "outs" step up the struggle, the real voices of reason and revolt wil be articulated from the dungeons of ‘Amerikicka. We’re supposed to follow guys like Farrakhan & ‘Al Sharpton? C’mon! It’s time to get new, young, bold leadership that want results, not the baubles and flash of selling out. We need insurgents, not shills! People like Jesse Jackson (Senior & Jr.) Oprah Winfrey, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell and Clarence Thomas help legitimize the false sense of freedom and opportunity in this Country. For every person who sells out his or her people in such a spectacular fashion, many hundreds of thousands are languishing in ghettos and prisons and more and more of them are deciding that resistance Is the only way to go. It shows how unbelievably brainwashed and subjugated people are in this country - black and white! The true black lions are almost invariably found to be in the prisons! There are some strong leaders, such as Fred Hampton, Jr. here in Chicago and Brother Aaron Patterson. But, much of this strong advocacy work is harassed by the police, ignored by the press and a blanket of fear is forever perpetuated among erstwhile supporters. Ask MOVE what the pigs do if you genuinely challenge them! Aaron has been sitting in a federal lock-up here in Chicago these last 10 months on a drugs & guns set-up. He’s just coming to trial now. The judge is trying not to let him be his own lawyer, which the Constitution specifically allows. I enough people refuse to be intimidated, there is nothing the
authorities can do. That’s what we all need to have in our hearts - a relentless, focused and steadfast determ\v\atlon’q; 4. 1n the past twenty years, as a whole, do you think "Black America" has moved forward or backwards? Answer: Well, looking at what has gone down these last twenty years, you can’t help but be aghast at the deterioration of the Black Community. Basically, 1/3 of our young men are ensnared in the injustice system. More and more young mothers have been torn from their families for Incarceration. Legitimate economic opportunities do not exist, as businesses are now based in China! Neighborhoods are under virtual military occupation, with cameras everywhere. Normal family life is all but impossible, under this level of oppression! Living in a demented, long-time fundamentally racist, classist social environment, where activity Is so regulated and stultified, screams for a genuine, revolutionary altemative. That’s what we are trying to work towards - an explosion of popular revolt - socially, politically, economically and culturally. It’s going to take a fundamental upheaval of incredible proportions, to advance our people out of this! The "leaders" are all about money and acqulescence to the system. That must change! 5. From your perspective, what is the state of the struggle? How do you rate the progress being made? Answer: Well, the struggle is everywhere all over the globe! Some places good progress Is being made and other places reaction Is busy massacring people without effective resistance. In this country, a torpor of fear, ignorance and Indifference continues to plague the progress of genuine resistance. This country is under long-time psychological lockdown, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. It is up to people like us to help others overcome their fear and ignorance and help them realize their natural inciination to want to be a part of a bettering of their communities. At this stage, that translates into resistance to the government and developing our own community-based organizations, outside the purview of the government and the predatory business structures. A dramatic increase in this work is way overdue, so we must try our hardest and rely on the natural
true yearnings of our Brothers & Sisters, inside and out to be there, when the shit hits the fan. Guidance, real education on all levels must be continuously provided and spread, for people to learn what they need to know and provide a basis for effective action. 4q 6. Do you feel we are prepared enough for direct action, armed resistance? Answer: No, of course not! Successful rebellion takes a long time of serious life and death struggle. We are uniquely quieted in this country. Sheeplike and ignorantized beyond even the Germans under Hitler are Americans - particularly the so-called "whites." Those that do have guns have little or no genuine political consciousness and the murderers of the government have a massive arsenal and brainwash network. As young people are forced to be America’s killers overseas, these fighting skills will increase. For, inevitably, many who survive this nightmare will turn on the government, who has so ruined their lives and forced them into this dreadful life-altering experience. Arming the hearts and souls of Black folks (and others) is essential to defuse the threat of the government and help their “volunteer” army into refusing to be used to suppress their own people - or other working people around the world. 7. What can the incarcerated comrades do to advance the struggle? Answer: The system has captured your bodies, but not your minds - unless you let them! It behooves you slaves to gather in knowledge and strength, study and struggle together, push your own struggles, and join the fray on the outs! You’re just as important as anybody on the "outs" if you have the right mindset! Look at Rashid! He’s seriously locked down in Virginia, but he’s a major component in the international struggle. Those of you who can write, draw, organize, sing, cook, fight - or whatever - should add your talents to the mix. Contact people like me, get the bolled down truth, provide the insights, network, do whatever it takes to be effective. Many of the great revolutionary leaders throughout history, spent plenty of time in prison. It is a cauldron, a breeding ground for revolt! Like Tom Big
s Warrior says, "Turn the Iron Houses of Oppression, Into Schools of Liberation.” Don’t let these pigs beat you down and rob you of your self-love and desire to side with your fellow captives! Don’t despair and fight each other, when you could be fighting your real enemies! Stand your ground! Transcend your conditions and serve the people! 8. And finally, what advise would you like to give fellow anarchists and others of the anti-everything-government- oppressive movements? Answer: Same as I would give to a prisoner. Get off your ass, get connected to the real deal and start working for a real future, for yourself and everybody else. Study, learn, and participate! Become Men & Women for the children. Long live the struggle. Long live Anarchy!! Interview with Anthony Rayson 1 PPN Who’s Anthany Rayson? Answer: Asthony Rayson (mel) i 51 year old fuhr, hushand and working-cass so- called “white” e, who aiso happens tobe serously dedicated snarchist revolutionary. No wonder there is now a stepping away by Hawaiians aind their supporters from the celebratory spirit of the American festivitics on this sacred American holiday Hawai’i, by July, 1894, was divided into two separate camps, the missionary boys"/annexationists and the Hawaiian loyalist. The first camp comsisted, by and large, of foreigners and missionary descendants active in the mercantile aifairs of Hawai’i. Sugar was a primary commodity and the United Statex of America, their primary market. They favored annexation of Hawai’i to the United States of America. Annexation would overcome the burden of any iport tariff or wther discriminatory teeatment the U.S. would impose on for Hasaitan goods competing with domestic produce. The Hawaiian morarchy had existed under a constitutional framework e 1530, Queen Liliruokalani was loved by her people who made up the vast oty of qoup were protectors of Hawaitan ndepender 0 Lili’wokalani, and stood finmly against any move wward aexation of Hawai’i 1o the United States, On the 16y ot January 1893, the United States military sided with the e ationises and on the 17th, provided all military support necessary for a nandtul of Wit 1 conunit @ coup d’ctat againat the Queen. These men declared thetielves the Provisional Government and gained the immediate recoznition wnd promise of protection from the U.S. Minister Plenipotcatiary to Haswai’t. e conntitational govenment abrogated. they denanded the Queen suricinder 10 them. At the threat of war against the Usited States of Anctica, Liliuokalani yielded her authority to the Unied States of America, for
a time, pending an investigation by the U.S. President of the interference by the United States military in the intemal affairs of Hawai’i. s President Grover Cleveland’s investigator, Minister James Blount. traveled to Hawai’i, conducted his study and reported to Cleveland who in fum addressed both houses of the U.S. Congress. Cleveland declared: ... By an act of war, commiltted with the participation of a diplomatic representative of the United States and without authority of Congress, the Government of a feeble bu friendly and confiding peaple has been overthrown. A substantial wrong has thus heen done which a due regard for our national character as well as the rights of the injured people requires we should endeavor to repair. The provisional government has not assumed a republican or other constitutional form. ‘but has remained a mere executive council or oligarchy. set up without the assent of the people. It has not sought to find a permanent hasis of popular support and has given no evidence of an intention o do so. Indeed, the representatives of that government assert that the people of Hawait are unfit for popular government and frankly avow that they can be best ruled by arbitrary or despotic power. The law of nations is founded upon reason and justice, and the rules of conduct governing individual relations hetween citizens or subjects of a civilized state are equally applicable as benveen enlightened nations. The considerations that international law is without court for its enforcement, and that obedience 10 its commandls practically depends upon good faith, instead. of upon the mandate of a superior wibuinal. only give additional sanction 10 the law itself and brand any deliberate infraction of it not merely as a wrong but as a disgrace. A man of e honor protects the unwritten word which binds his conscicnce more serupulously, if possible, than he does the bond u breach of which Subjects him to legal liabilities; and the United States in aiming 0 maintain itself as one of the most enlightencd of nations would do its citizens gross injustice if it applicd to its international relations any other than a high standard of honor and moraliry. O that er-und the United States can not properly be put in the position of cowntenancing a wrong after its commission any more than in that of consenting o i in advunce. On that ground it can not allow itself t0 refuse to redvess an injury inflcted through an abuse of power by officers clothed with its authority and wearing its uniform; and on the same ground. if a feehle but friendly state is in danger of being robbed of ts independence and its sovercignty by a misuse of the name and power of the United States. the United Statc can ot fail to vindicate its honor and its sense of justice by an carnest effort to make all possible reparation.
“The members of the Provisional Government heeded Cleveland’s SL condemnation, not by wing over the powers of govemment to Queen Ll uokalani, but by carrying out a pretense of legitimacy by calling for a constitutional convention 10 sew ogether the necessary garment 1o produce a legitiniate appearance. Sanford B. Dole, son of early missionary to Hawai’i, Daniel Dole, acting as President of the Provisional Govemment, summoned a constitutional convention. In that call, he appointed 19 of 4 thinty seven member convention. For these 19 delegates. he selected himself and his 18 cabinet members. The balance of 18 were 1o be elected by the Hawaiian people. But only those who disavowed their loyalty 1o Queen Lili’uokalani and pledged their allegiance 10 the provisional govemment were pennitted 10 seek (0 become delegates o vote in this election. Thus, the convention was doomed from the start o produce this cloak of legitimacy for the annexationisis. On the 4 of July, 1894, there assembled on the sicps of *lolani Palace men who styled themselves in the patriotic thetoric of American noble principles and proceeded 10 do just the opposite. On that fateful day. a handiul of men representing clear minority of the adult population of Hawai’i. well protected by guns kept out of public sight, proceeded to declare the Republic of Hawai’i into exisience. Here's the latest labor of agitational love from my

who I worked with very closely for a long time. We'll
start working up PPWC (Political Prisoners of War

With the FBI specifically targeting prisoners who have
"become radicalized while in prison” as a big part of their
domestic "War on Terror" what I have been trying to say
and do is becoming more apparent to many people. The
"War" is one being fought against the truth, for the truth
is revolutionary and the authorities do not want their
slaves to become educated, and thus empowered and a
positive asset to their communities. They'd prefer that we
continue to be atomized and lacking in solidarity. For,
with insight and knowledge comes courage and resolve.
This is bad news for authorities, who wish for us to calmly
accept their lies and do nothing, while they steal and kill
and make suffer throughout our deteriorating world.

Many of the more articulate teachers are being horribly
abused, throughout the vast Amerikkkan gulag archipeligo.
You can try to ignore it or step up and contribute to the
cause. I've made my choice. Have you?

Black August Address, Indianapolis, 8-28-05

Greetings, Brothers & Sisters. My name is Anthony
Rayson and I'm an Abolitionist from Chicago, where Fred
Hampton and Mark Clark were martyred. Tiinois is also the
home of Elifah P. Lovejoy, who preached anti-slavery in
Southern Tllinois. Three times his printing presses were
destroyed for calling out the truth. One night, he reduced
the townspeople to tears with his eloquence and defiance.
The next night, he and his brother fought to the death
defending the cause, while attacked by local vigilantes.

Other so-called "whites" transcended this racist country,
too. William Lioyd Garrison, Wendell Phillips - both souljahs
to the core. But the greatest of them all was John Brown,
who took this slave country and shook it by the neck!
See, there is no such thing s "white people.” There is
o Whiteland that we come from! There is no white culture!
The only things that are "white" are vile lies, racism and
oppression. Whiteness must be abolished - this whole &
worldwide system of racist oppression must be ended!

1 work with consclous prisoners. We want to get the
truth out of the gulags and empowerment back in. We have
2 saying: "Turn the Tron Houses of Oppression Into Schools
of Libération!” For, slavery has never ended. The 13"
Amendnent which purportedly "ended" slavery, specifically
targets prisoners for endless human slavery! One-third of
all young black men In thelr twenties are ensnaried In the
prison system. In some citles, the figure is well over 50%.
There is a frenzy to Incarcerate the black community. There
1s 2 helocaust going on in the black community. The prisons

writers. and the most talented artists are locked-down in the
supermax hellholes of a vast Amerikkkan gulag archipelligo.
These are the George Jackson's and Malcolm X's of today!
These folks are the revolutionaries I have the privilege to
work closely with, Rashid, Khaifani, Tallb, Zolo, Abdul,
Ramona - these names should beedme s familiar to you as
your own child, to everyone who dreams of genuine freedon
in the here and now. If you want the truth, you go to the
most oppressed - the slaves of today, our prisoners!

‘A man or woman's ultimate worth Is two-fold. How well
they treated those closely around them and how hard they
fought for truth, justice, freedom and equality. It has
nothing to do with how much shiny metal you possess! You
See, 1 may not have much protective melanin in my skin, but
1 still got a black soull 1 have my self-respect and I know
who the enemy s - the racist government and all the
elaborate systems that support It - the legal system of
Kidnapping and warehousing, the military who terrorize the
world, the economic system, based on wage-slavery - all of
it! Tt has to be crashed by those who are living amidst t!

The U.S. only has 4.5% of the world's population, yet
usurps 30% of her natural resources. That mearis % of the
people of Earth (1.5 billior) are left to starve to death. Even
with all this obscene wealth, tens of millions of Americans
live In destitution, poverty, without adequate health care or
education, or live In a box on the street. 2.2 million live In
government cages, often far from their loved ones!
So, I've come down here today with ane of my homies to
bring forth this powerful information from the prisons that
everyone needs to know - especially black folks, who are the
main target of these bloodthirsty judges and prosecutors.
We must arm ourselves with the truth to help guide us in
our struggle. For, the truth is revolutionary and the more
you know, the stronger you become and the more useful to
others. Those bravely fighting behind the razor wire are
looking to us to shed our apathy, ignorance and lethargy
and organize our communities in self-sustaining, positive
ways. Working together we can figure this out and slay the
beast that is menacing a//of the multi-colored children of
Africa. For, Africa is Grandmother to us all! Thank you.

Five Reasons to oppose the Death Penalty in Zolo's case and every case

We say NO DEATH PENALTY FOR ZOLO because:

+ THE DEATH PENALTY IN THE US. IS RACIST.

« THE DEATH PENALTY IN THE US. PUNISHES THE POOR.

- THE DEATH PENALTY CONDEMNS THE INNOCENT TO DIE.

« THE DEATH PENALTY IS NOT A DETERRENT TO VIOLENT CRIME.
THE DEATH PENALTY IS CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT.

Yo can help by downloading and distibuting hi fiyer: No Death Penaly for Zolo Azaviat ass

1. The death peaalty Is racist.
Did Zolo receive a fai trial in front ofa jury of his peers”? Not

A Black person i four times mre likely 1o receive the death penalty than 8 white persun
‘with a similar background and convicted of a similar crime.

A Black person who kil a white person i 1 times more likely 10 get the death perally
than if th victim were Black of the perpetrator were white.

2. The death peaalty punishes the poor.
Zolo's death sentence was thrown ou the fisttime because he received “incflective
asistance from counsel"; he had to accept inexperienced court-appointed counsel duc
Tack of funds.

More than 90% of the defendants charged with cupital crimes are indigent and “incticct
assistance of counsel® is usually what they get. In recent years, 20 federally funded ceniers
that aided low-income defendants were shut down.

3. The death pealty condemns the ianocent to dic.
Zolo mainains his inocence. He has been reated in a prejudicial way and the courts will
"o grunt him a re-rial on the acts of the case. Under these circumsiances, how can we

accept he guilty verdict he received?
Since 1976, more than 100 people who had speat years on deaih row lave becn
completely exonerated and released from prison.

4. “The death penalty is not a deterrent to violeat crime.
A New York Times survey determined that homicid raies i stacs with capital

‘punishment ae 101% higher than in states without capital punishment.
5. The death penalty s cruel and unususl punishment. e

As the environment slowly increases its homeostatic decline, with
such alarming disasters as rapid-fire hurricanes, devastating major
earthquakes, catastrophic tsunamis, ruinous droughts, etc. the
(inability of govemments - especially the super top-down U.S.
‘government, will be exposed as not just useless and ineffectual in
dealing with these crises, but also a hindrance to genuine relef efforts
and ultimately, to the sustainability of life itself.
Hurricane Katrina was very instructive in this respect. Money
earmarked for the bolstering of the dikes protecting New Orleans (and
many other infrastructure needs) was diverted to the killing fields of
Iraq. Days of waiting (and dying) of the flood victims, who were hungry,
thirsty, sick, elderly and (mostly) black, was for naught. Many died
waiting for rescue. The bodies were just left there to float and get
bloated.

Opportunistic police, heavily arméd ahd having the best rescue”
vehicles, honed in on the high-ticket electronics stores, not to protect
them, but to loot them. The word came down to switch from rescuing
people (or even collecting the dead) to protecting property from the
rabble (desperate poor blacks) and to shoot looters. And indeed, they
killed several people.

Other cops just disappeared, as FEMA - Federal Emergency
Management Agency - led by a hack who formerly oversaw the judging.
of the aristocratic sport of horse jumping - didn't respond for days and
then, inadequately. This was a rude awakening for all Americans.

This shows everybody how dangerous and futile (and even counter-
productive) such a political system truly is. People desperate and
waiting for rescue are herded into the Superdome, left to fend for
themselves, or in the case of some hospices and nursing homes,
abandoned to diel The image of wide-eyed, dead, bloated bodies, tied
to the light poles in New Orleans with a tag on their foot, will forever be
etched into all of our minds and those around the world. Even destitute

When Cuba generously offered 1,500 doctors focused and trained
for such calamities, the U.S. brusquely refused them. Cuba has
hurricanes rake their country more than anywhere else and they have
effective evacuation plans to ensure that those in harm's way are
bussed away from dangerous areas before the hurricanes hit. This,
even though the U.S. has had a decades-long embargo on their nearby
island. Where there is a will, there is way.

In America, you must have money to make it to safety. Katrina, like
all other slow-moving hurricanes, gave several days wamning, that due
to the addictive dependence on money in this country, those most.
vuinerable, the poor black folks in New Orleans, were unable to take
advantage of. This is criminal negligence, racist and class based. Itis
what has always defined America. Putting Rosa Park's body in the
cotunda of the White House, does not balm over systemic injustice.

Earlier this year, Southeast Asia suffered horrifically from a tsunami
generated from a monster underwater earthquake of 9.0 occurring in
the Indian Ocean. In this case, there were only a few hours notice
before the populous coasts were washed away. A tsunami warming

system was in place in Hawaii and they were alerted, but they did not
‘war those in harm's way. They said they didn't have a *phone number"

officials, if their dire wamning proved less lethal than they had predicted.
The mere $1 milion price tag for this equipment was withheld from
people in the affected areas in Asia. The reason being that the money
for this equipment was not available. Three hundred thousand lives
‘were lost, denied the chance at safety, for about 3 cents person!

It's like starving children. They starve, even though food can readily
be provided, only because their parents do not have the money to pay
forit. Meanwhile, back in the U.S. where 4.5% of the world's population
usurps 30% of the world's resources (and brutally incarcerates 25% of
her prisoners) 1/3 of-our children are obesel Huge amounts of food
are thrown away at restaurants and stores and farmers are paid not to
grow crops, etc. There are even laws to prevent the retrieval of such
till edible food (dumpster diving,) Its a cruel, evil system. Recently,
the Voices in the Wildemess people, based in Chicago, have been fined
for the *criminal felony* of bringing medicine to Iraq during the decade-
plus long infanticide the U.S. forced upon this devastated country, after
their ghastly war of 1991. Genocide posing as "democracy.

Getting back to the meltdown of our planet and the U.S. system's
‘complicty, ponder this. Recently, it was discovered that enormous peat
bogs, the size of France and Germany combined are thawing in Siberia,
releasing enormous amounts of methane gas (cow gas) that is very
harmful to the delicate balance of our atmosphere. This will fuel the
acceleration of the phenomenon known as “global warming’ that the
government is denying the importance of. The U.S. govemment does.
nothing to halt or siow this catastrophe in the making, aithough every
other country in the worid signed the Kyoto tresty to begin to deal with
hydrocarbon emission into the atmosphere. As usual, the U.S.
generates a much higher percentags of these deadly gases than their
population should warrant. SUV's keep being churned out and poison
‘spews into the air, as America sits in traffic jams, oblivious o the
consequences.

The snows of Mount Kilimanjaro are no more and even the North
Pole is no longer solidly frozen in spots. Chunks of glaciers the size.of
Rhode Island have broken off from the Arctic and Antarctica, cast adrift
and are slowly melting... Mother Earth is suffering from a dreadful fever.

Anyway, lets got back to New Orleans. In the hours and days that
followed the rupture of her dikes, many, many people were rescued,
mostly by spontaneous groups of rescuers, neighbors, other citizens
and dedicated professionals. Thedire predictions of the domothing
offcials (10,000 dead) were infiated, as they did not take into account
the resourcefuiness and courage of Gitizens - acting outside the control
of govemment. Undoubtedly, the instinct to survive also gave many

people the strength to rescue themselves and those around them, too.

Like during the chaotic aftermath of the suspicious World Trade
Center attacks - where 3,000 Americans died - many people in New
Orleans were rescued (and managed to save themselves) by 57
circumventing, ignoring or defying offiial instructions.

t's astounding that the U.S. govemment after decades of massive
“defense" spending of many trilions of dollars was unable to stop or
otherwise interdict these hijackers, played out on live television. The
only plane that was stopped from its deadly mission, was taken out by
the people on board that plane themselves, with no help from the
governmentl President Bush went hiding in the mountains out west

not one was from Iraq.

In New Orleans, once the criminal bumblers of government regained
their bogus authority, doctors and other relief workers who came to
offer their services were prevented from assisting people who so
desperately welcomed and desired their help. After all, people can't be
allowed to see the power and goodness of genuine mutual aid, that no
government has ever had anything to do with, that needs no
government to function effectively and adaptively.

More hurricanes swept through the gulf devastating Mexico,
Nicaragua, Cuba and Florida. Instead of mobilizing the enormous
resources and capabilities which the U.S. possesses, the government's
focus was directed at increasing the vile assaults in Iraq, confirming a
rightist Supreme Court nominee and trying to slip in an unqualified
crony for the "women's seat." Cheney's boy (Scooter Libby) is in hot
water for outing a CIA operative - the wife of an ambassadorl The mass
Kkilling and systemic ecanomic empire that causes so much human
misery and the degradation of our Earth aren't even considered as
“crimes.”

In Florida, Hurricane Wilma came and devastated huge areas along.
the Atlantic coast. Once again, the govemment response was class and
race-based, feeble and sluggish. Govemor Jeb Bush (the *smart’ one)
cried crocodile tears and many areas were still washed outand without
power, food, water and sheiter ‘'several days later.

The class nature of *rescue and reconstruction” was made apparent
by President Bush who came down for a Katrina photo op and promised
that we can all be rest assured that Senator Trent Lott's mansion would
be quickly rebuitt. Meanwhile, the poor from New Orleans and

ransformed the land into private propertywhich the white settiers
stole, and developed a complex system of laws to keep this wealth in
the hands of those who stole it and keep the "have-nots” either 25
imprisoned in the factories, plantations or the prisons. Slavery is still
partand parcel to the Constitution (13" Amendment.) Chattel slavery
was ended, but prison slavery was continued, as was wage-slavery.
Some "democracyl® What good is *maiority rule® when most people

that % of Americans don't even know where Iraq is??? The whole thing
is a charade, orchestrated by powerful interests and has nothing to do
with what Americans really want or truly need.

Now that much of the slave labor to profit U.S. corporations has
been "outsourced" to India, China, etc., young black men especially are
of no use to this oppressive system, except as soldiers, police, prison
‘guards, and most often, prisoners. For, each prisoner is worth $30,000
per year to the highly lucrative punishment industry. Prison stocks on
the New York Stock Exchange are highly valuable and the penal
institution is booming, The most powerful unions in many states are
prison guard.unions. It guaranteed profit, as all monies are
‘guaranteed, having been extorted from citizens every year in heavy
taxes. Half of-all drug arrests are now for marijuana. So, the
goverment is priitizing the criminalizing of potheads, of which there
are several million in the'U.S..Even cancer patients, AIDS patients, etc.
who need it medicinally are targeted by this demented goverment.

Countless invasions throughout the world, propping up of dictators,
and the training of death squads define American foreign policy, not
"human rights* or *democracy” or any other.of the gargantuan lies
hammered into the American people.

At the end of the American Revolution, 100,000 people fled to
Canada. These were freed slaves, Native Americans, indentured
servants, British loyalists, French-speaking people, etc. They were
fleeing the inevitable repression and re-enslavement that would be
forced upon them, had they stayed and been captured.

Some folks stayed and fought the U.S. govemment, as they had
done ever since the European invasion. Insurgent "Maroons" made up
of freed/escaped slaves, natives, indentured servants, and others
criminalized by the U.S. economic and political system, set up
“autonomous zones" in the Dismal Swamps of Virginia and North
Carolina. Others were based in the Florida Everglades, the Caribbean
and elsewhere. Their resistance to the slave country of America lasted
for centuries! You won'tlearn about that in school, however.

Before humanity can begjn to reverse this cataclysmic slide of
natural disasters, nuclear wars, economic tyranny, slavery, starvation,
fundamentalism and so forth, people must rid themselves of their blind
trust in government - especially people in the U.S. who are by far, the 26
most politically comatose people on the planet! Once this happens, the
true nature of political reality can be leamed and used to craft people-
oriented solutions.

If this realization does not successfully occur, more and more, the
people of the world will suffer tragedy upon tragedy, while being,
manipulated by their government to kill and be killed, making enemies
of their brothers, besed on race and other phony categories.

While we die and suffer, the Dick Cheney's of the worid will continue
10 live lavish lives, accumulating more and more weaith and be
responsible for more death and destruction. It's high time we realize
who our real enemies are and who is trying to deny our children a
Jivable, decent and sustainable future. For,all this suffering is not

Prisons — RHU, SHU, MSU Units: Are All the Same —
Designed to Subjugate, Degrade, Divide & Conquer and to Try to
Psychologically Impair It's Prisoners!!! 27

‘The daily dehumanization that occurred at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq
—was perpetuated and enthusiastically maintained by us. soldiers and their
partners in crime, their “superiors.” I's but an extension of a long history of
‘mental, emotional, psychological and physical abuses the prisoners in the
United States... both state and federal prisons have endured and experienced
for many, many years. ‘This was and is caused by those who have control
over our lives ~ the so-called “correctional officers” und their policy-making
“superiors.”

People in general must understand that whenever there is a reporting of 8
prison disturbance, uprising, riot, or however the officials and media decide
1o label it, the bottom line is, these are signs made by prisoners — human
beings living in these u.s. prisons, that something is seriously and terribly
wrong, a sign of desperation 1o reach out o those who are listening that we
‘must resort to these actions to address or air real intemal prison grievances
and problems, as all other avenues of redress have failed or been of no avail.
‘The exposure the prisoners received at Abu Ghraib is certainly the sort of
‘exposure both men and women prisoners in the u.s. have sacrificed so much
for in the various struggle to expose the intolerable conditions and harsh
treatment they are experiencing throughout their imprisonment.

Fortunately, the prisoners at Abu Ghraib did not reach the stage of
heightened resistance to require atteation and exposure was much quicker
than usual due to the intemational spollight in the area 1o expose the daily
‘humiliations at the hands of their sadistic captors. But, indeed, there was
“exposure,” “sttention” and “coverage” and due to “pressure” eforts were
‘made to climinate the injustices and dehumanizing treatment.

‘Which is the motivating and political gist of this particular article and that
is, each state in the u.s. possessing of concerned citizens interested in what's
happening in the prison system, need to o al that is humanly possible 10

political figures and representatives to push for senate hearings,
investigations, and real resolutions that will eliminatc the injustices and
dehumanizing treatment in our own prison system.

Tl specifically mention the Pennsylvania prison called SCI-Greene. This
is located in the southwestern part of pa. and is a maximu security prison.
1¢’s where former guard, Charles A. Grainer, Jr. got his training, which he.
carried abroad to mentally and physically abuse the Iragi prisoners. There
arc a great number of Charles Grainer-types here at the SCI-Greene and in
every prison in the us. tate and foderal. And there have been numerous
studies, done by certain well-known psychiatrists, such as Dr. Stoart
‘Grassian on the “toxicity” of solitary confinement in RHUS in the New York
prison system, ctc. and in his work he produced the “psychiatrc efects of

'A) Leaving the cell’s night light on 24 hours a day, for no other parpose
but to deprive the prisoner of substantial amounts of steep.

'B) Air vents blowing full force, and regardiess of the weather, never

encugh for any comfort.

'C) Hiamd-cuffied behind your back whenever you exit your oel; for yard,
shower. etc.

D) Yard depends on weather and most of the time, on the mood or
sttitude of the guard. Even though we are entitied to one hour of fresh air

) Yard consiss of a square wire mesh, bere, one-man cage, not much

isting strip searches and being placed in 2 dog cage.

F) The use of chemicals —pepper spray, in additon to several body-
armored guards and electric shields 10 forcibly remove a prisoner from his
cell. 1t's called “cell extraction.”

G) Either cold or hukewarm, food is served on trays without inserts.
That's always questionsble 88 1 s cleanliness or not and a great percentage
of time is beneath medical and sanitary standards.

H) Prisoners without certain basic ameaities, such s books, magazines,
‘newspapers, etc. are written up on misconduct charges for reading otber
prisoners’ material. Same goes for the prisoner sharing it. 1‘7

1) Inadequate medical care. No oae seems to have an snswer or the right
‘answer to any of the prisoner’s health questions and the many unexplained
‘cases of Hepatitis C.

J) No educations, religious, work or other opportunities - only idleness
‘and punitive lockdowns and oppressive rules and regulations.

K) Grievance procedures, appeal process, classification system known as

and system offcials.

L) Many prisoners, based on a combinatioa of things, become morc and
‘more introverted and experience a decline in physical nd mental health due
o isolation, idleness, sress, lack of communicatio, long-tem confinement,
etc. and they become victims of the medical staff, who medicats them. This
only exacerbates the siress levels. Insteed of providing these particular

'M) Using the stress, the insanity, the racism, the rules and regulations, as
tactics o pit ane prisoner against another, and lasly....

Long-term lock-down is the order of the day here for anyone that the
officials think is a potential threat — or has the sbiliy to think, to organize, to
educate, to have & real positive influence on others are signaled out — long-
term administrative custody (A.C.) locked down for months and years.

‘Which explains why s0 many of us have been personally and purposely
sigaaled out to endure indefinitc cofinement without eny prison
misconducts or disciplinary sentences, as & result of any wrongdoing. Prison
‘guards and those who are in cahoots with them, in every prison in the u.s.
always use cepricious and arbitray policy rulings to protect and serve their
‘own interests and their system of injustice.

1 have specifically meationed all of the above o give you “some” idea of
the totaity of the conditions — or at least & fraction of it, 0 pant a picture of
the toxicity of our daily confinemen, which is, in every sense of the word,
substantial and abusive treatment. The system here is designed to degrade,
humilist, oppress and to place a prisoner in a sate of helplessncss and
dospair, a sate of submission, t0 lose all individuality and become a slave to
the state; 10 think, foel and act as they do.

‘Bu, fortunately, there also exists here many strong, politically
enlightened prisaners that are very articulate, educated and uncompromising
in faith and principles and who are forever studying and cducating, and
kecping their heads above the water of all negativities and reactionary
activities. We are struggling as best we can, under the circumstances!

1 closing, T will say there are many things that people can do in support
of prisoners, prison issucs, family and friends of prisoners, in a positive and
meaningful way. First and foremost i initiative and communication,
opening up a dialogue with a prisoner or one of the many prisoners’
community support groups and human rights coalitions in your community.
‘Waorking with these coalitions, groups and organizations is oot only just
organizing around prison issucs, but it also means involvement on Various
‘positive social community issues o a grassroots level. This work is in
Tespect to realistic day to day ssues and concems that are significant and of
interest to you, your family, your friends, your children and your
community.

“Initiaive, communication and solidarity are the essence of all
beginnings and our ultimate triumphs.”

Who's The Terrorist?
By Ward Churchill 3z

Once again what I have said has been turned into the
opposite of itself.

First, Dan Caplis, Craig Silverman and numerous other
right-wing media spinmeisters asserted that I "advocated”
terrorist attacks on the United States in my Op-Ed piece of
Sept. 12, 2001. Even a casual reading of that piece, as
well as the 300-page book On the Justice of Roosting
Chickens in which I more fully explicated and documented
my argument, reveals that I did not advocate such
attacks. Rather, I pointed out that they were and wil
continue to be the inevitable result of a U.S. foreign policy
that disregards the rule of law and results in massive
death and destruction abroad.

Next, the dynamic duo and their colleagues attempted to
discredit me through an endless stream of personal
attacks, These have falled because the facts, even though
not reported in the media, do not support their assertions.

Now, in both a paid ad and a prominently featured Op-Ed
piece March 5 in the News (“Churchill's active advocacy of
violence demands his firing”), Caplis and Silverman have
resorted to the outright lie that I have actively sought to
incite "violent revolution.”

1 have done no such thing. To the contrary, what I have
consistently advocated over the years is the rule of law.

The great bulk of my scholarly work has been devoted to
documenting the United States' disregard for law and the
resulting violence it has perpetrated both domestically and
internationally. I believe that such practices inevitably
breed violence in response, and that the most effective
way to ensure the security of all peoples Is adherence to
the Constitution and International law, particularly the laws
of war and fundamental human rights law.
As citizens, It s our collective responsibility to ensure such
compliance with law, This is the actual meaning of the
quote on Arabs misrepresented by Caplis and Silverman in
both their ad and their Op-Ed. My point was that it is our
fob to halt the criminal conduct of the U.S. government,
Tather than leaving the task to those from other countries
Who suffer the consequences of its lflegalities. 22

Following the position aruculated by Supreme Court Justice
Robert H. Jackson at Nuremberg in 1945, I believe that we
have not only the right but the legal obligation to compel
lawful behavior from the government that Is acting in our
name.

1 document the systemic violence perpetrated by the U.S.
government In the hope that Americans will take this
Fesponsibilty to heart and use polltical means to change
government policy. I would vastly prefer that this happen
Shrough nonviolent means. However, 1 cannot say that
honviolence Is the only legitimate response to systemic
violence.

The principle of self-defense Is not mysterious: When one
s subjected to aggresslon, It Is the perpetrator, not the
victim, who dictates the terms of engagement.

Although I am plainly no pacifist, 1 have never advocated
terrorist attacks on Wall Street, downtown Seattle, or
anywhere else. To make it appear otherwise, Caplis and
Siiverman have taken material out of context and turned it
on its head. My comments in this regard, made to a small
group of young anarchists gathered In a Seattle bookstore,
ent to the idea that they would not accomplish anything
useful by marginalizing themselves and engaging in
random acts of sabotage along the social periphery.

Drawing upon German theorist Rudi Dutschke's concept of
"a long march through the institutions," I therefore
proposed the alternative that they attempt to work from
ithin the institutional setting, as I myself have done. The
*weapons” I referred to were young people's own
consclousness and capacity to transmit it. Along the way, 1
also pointed out that as relatively privileged Euro-
Americans, they were ideally situated to undertake such a
project.
Caplis and Silverman are seeking for their own reasons to
con the public into believing that I am an active proponent
of terrorism. This is not only false, it is extraordinarily "
dangerous. By framing my statements as they have, and
then repeatedly broadcasting their spin to a broad
audience, there is an obvious possibility that they might
actually precipitate an act of terror by some unbalanced
individual. Should this turn out to be the case, the
responsibility will be theirs, not mine.

This is a writte interview submitted by True, aka
James E. Scott, to Comrade Anthony Rayson on 6 - 22 - 05

1. Your name and reputation is pretty well known in the
Anarchist milieu. How would you describe your position in
the struggle?

Answer: 1 like to think of myself as the guy in the sub-
basement of the underground, with a bucket and a mop! I
was mentored by serious anarchists into heavy prisoner
support, and for that 1 will be forever gratefull I believe that
the voices of revolt, here in Amerika, are screaming loud &
dlear, from the gulags. It's a plain no-brainer to focus one's
attention on this explosion of information and
empowerment. It's the epicenter of the struggle in this
country, no'question. To collaborate with these Brothers &
Sisters is very fulfilling and I feel they are my own family.
My position is moving the struggle forward, plain & simple!
Being direct, dealing with present days issues in a truly
anarchist fashion and demonstrating consistent solidarity,
mutual aid and so forth, “legitimizes” my position,
regardiess of what anybody might say, one way or the
other. So, I don't worry about my "position” and just do
serious work, on a daily basis.

2. As an African in the U.$., why would you say you
embraced Anarchy over a singular movemnent, such as Black
Nationalism?

Answer: It's interesting that you ask this question, because
actually, people would call me "white." I'm a low-melanin
dude, but my heart is black as coall_John Brown was a
*white" man, too! Doesn't matter! We're all from Africa
anyway. I don't suffer the physical oppression of being
Black in America, but I suffer injustice psychologically, as I
see it all around me. I approach revolt not from a position
of desperation personally, but as a desperately needed
phenomenon for the continuation of life itself and the ending
of oppression for countiess billions of people, here on Earth.
Anarchy is plain freedom, justice and equality, really. It's
plain-spoken truth about political reality. It's all about
supporting positive relations among people and opposing
coercive, lie-based power structures. It's an open-ended
q1
opportunity to get down! Black Nationalism is a legitimate
response to centurles of enslavement, by this white settler
regime. I'm no nationalist, but rather, an internationalist. 1
do feel people can attain an anti-authoritarian, gender
equality seeking, freedom way of thinking, through several
avenues, and thus, deserving of serious solidarity and
mutual aid. You can call it anything you want, but if it is
based on providing the needs of people, not preying on
others, sustaining the planet, and so forth, It deserves
support. Our enemies are very dangerous and we must
focus our attention on stopping their predation. 20" century
labels or struggles, antagonisms or whatever are history. If
and when we are able to stop these mass global killers, then
we can argue over Ideology. For now, it's "all hands on
deck” and 1 feel genuine anarchism is open-ended enough to
provide a strong springboard for thought and action - at
least for me. It doesn't limit your thinking or goals.

3. Speaking of that particular topic, with a Black, if you will,
high ranking white house official, a Black billionaire, and

several Black millionaires, what would you say the state of
"Black America" is?
Answer: The white power structure has learned that even
though they may still “hate” black people and make sure the
institutions funnel them at a holocaust rate into the gulags,
cause despair, impoverishment and conflict in their Yz
communities and so forth, these Toms come in handy as
window dressing, at the 17 course state dinners.

Colin Powell greases the Irag War by lying at the U.N.
Jesse Jackson puts up shadow puppet resistance, while
raking in millions. Oprah tells everyone how to live, sitting
on top of a billion dollars while many starve to death, are
being bombed and shot or incarcerated. Clarence Thomas
gives the Supreme Court a "diverse" veneer, as he rubber
Stamps the judicial repression of his people. Even popular
hip-hop stars like P. Diddy, shill for corporations (Diet
Pepsi.) The real Malcolm X's & George Jackson's have
already been murdered or are prisoners. So, until those on
the "outs" step up the struggle, the real voices of reason
and revolt wil be articulated from the dungeons of
‘Amerikicka. We're supposed to follow guys like Farrakhan &
‘Al Sharpton? C'mon! It's time to get new, young, bold
leadership that want results, not the baubles and flash of
selling out. We need insurgents, not shills!

People like Jesse Jackson (Senior & Jr.) Oprah Winfrey,
Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell and Clarence Thomas help
legitimize the false sense of freedom and opportunity in this
Country. For every person who sells out his or her people in
such a spectacular fashion, many hundreds of thousands are
languishing in ghettos and prisons and more and more of
them are deciding that resistance Is the only way to go. It
shows how unbelievably brainwashed and subjugated people
are in this country - black and white! The true black lions
are almost invariably found to be in the prisons!

There are some strong leaders, such as Fred Hampton,
Jr. here in Chicago and Brother Aaron Patterson. But, much
of this strong advocacy work is harassed by the police,
ignored by the press and a blanket of fear is forever
perpetuated among erstwhile supporters. Ask MOVE what
the pigs do if you genuinely challenge them! Aaron has
been sitting in a federal lock-up here in Chicago these last
10 months on a drugs & guns set-up. He's just coming to
trial now. The judge is trying not to let him be his own
lawyer, which the Constitution specifically allows. I enough
people refuse to be intimidated, there is nothing the
authorities can do. That's what we all need to have in our
hearts - a relentless, focused and steadfast determ\v\atlon'q;
4. 1n the past twenty years, as a whole, do you think "Black
America" has moved forward or backwards?

Answer: Well, looking at what has gone down these last
twenty years, you can't help but be aghast at the
deterioration of the Black Community. Basically, 1/3 of our
young men are ensnared in the injustice system. More and
more young mothers have been torn from their families for
Incarceration. Legitimate economic opportunities do not
exist, as businesses are now based in China! Neighborhoods
are under virtual military occupation, with cameras
everywhere. Normal family life is all but impossible, under
this level of oppression! Living in a demented, long-time
fundamentally racist, classist social environment, where
activity Is so regulated and stultified, screams for a genuine,
revolutionary altemative. That's what we are trying to work
towards - an explosion of popular revolt - socially, politically,
economically and culturally. It's going to take a
fundamental upheaval of incredible proportions, to advance
our people out of this! The "leaders" are all about money
and acqulescence to the system. That must change!

5. From your perspective, what is the state of the struggle?
How do you rate the progress being made?

Answer: Well, the struggle is everywhere all over the globe!
Some places good progress Is being made and other places
reaction Is busy massacring people without effective
resistance. In this country, a torpor of fear, ignorance and
Indifference continues to plague the progress of genuine
resistance. This country is under long-time psychological
lockdown, but it doesn't have to stay that way. It is up to
people like us to help others overcome their fear and
ignorance and help them realize their natural inciination to
want to be a part of a bettering of their communities. At
this stage, that translates into resistance to the government
and developing our own community-based organizations,
outside the purview of the government and the predatory
business structures. A dramatic increase in this work is way
overdue, so we must try our hardest and rely on the natural
true yearnings of our Brothers & Sisters, inside and out to
be there, when the shit hits the fan. Guidance, real
education on all levels must be continuously provided and
spread, for people to learn what they need to know and
provide a basis for effective action. 4q

6. Do you feel we are prepared enough for direct action,
armed resistance?

Answer: No, of course not! Successful rebellion takes a
long time of serious life and death struggle. We are
uniquely quieted in this country. Sheeplike and ignorantized
beyond even the Germans under Hitler are Americans -
particularly the so-called "whites." Those that do have guns
have little or no genuine political consciousness and the
murderers of the government have a massive arsenal and
brainwash network. As young people are forced to be
America's killers overseas, these fighting skills will increase.
For, inevitably, many who survive this nightmare will turn on
the government, who has so ruined their lives and forced
them into this dreadful life-altering experience. Arming the
hearts and souls of Black folks (and others) is essential to
defuse the threat of the government and help their
“volunteer” army into refusing to be used to suppress their
own people - or other working people around the world.

7. What can the incarcerated comrades do to advance the
struggle?

Answer: The system has captured your bodies, but not your
minds - unless you let them! It behooves you slaves to
gather in knowledge and strength, study and struggle
together, push your own struggles, and join the fray on the
outs! You're just as important as anybody on the "outs" if
you have the right mindset! Look at Rashid! He's seriously
locked down in Virginia, but he's a major component in the
international struggle. Those of you who can write, draw,
organize, sing, cook, fight - or whatever - should add your
talents to the mix. Contact people like me, get the bolled
down truth, provide the insights, network, do whatever it
takes to be effective. Many of the great revolutionary
leaders throughout history, spent plenty of time in prison. It
is a cauldron, a breeding ground for revolt! Like Tom Big
s
Warrior says, "Turn the Iron Houses of Oppression, Into
Schools of Liberation.” Don't let these pigs beat you down
and rob you of your self-love and desire to side with your
fellow captives! Don't despair and fight each other, when
you could be fighting your real enemies! Stand your
ground! Transcend your conditions and serve the people!

8. And finally, what advise would you like to give fellow
anarchists and others of the anti-everything-government-
oppressive movements?

Answer: Same as I would give to a prisoner. Get off your
ass, get connected to the real deal and start working for a
real future, for yourself and everybody else. Study, learn,
and participate! Become Men & Women for the children.

Long live the struggle. Long live Anarchy!!

Interview with Anthony Rayson
1 PPN Who's Anthany Rayson?

9. PN How or what lead you 10 become involved with prisoners inthe first place and
what can a prisoner tell omeone in society? Aftr ll, they victimized society.

Answer: 1 bad wonderful meors, both inside and outside the razor wire. One in
porticuar | am forever indebted to. His name is Sean Lambert aad be's a young prison
abolition anarchis, bi-sexual, out of New York. He helped open up many doors for me.
Prisoners ar like everybady ele — victims of this society. Yeah, many have preyed on
people and sill do. 1 don'treally concern myself much with what brought an individual
into prison. 1t is what they have made of themselves now! Malcolm X & George
Jackson were two-bit husters before they came in but just look at what they were abie to
ransform themselves into! The real criminals run e show, yet peopic take what they.
say without even questioning their inister motivations. Prisoners se this grucsome:
society from the ugly underside. This is very helpful in exposing this rotien system.
10, FPN Ts it tre that America has more convicted citizens n s risons than any other
country inthe world, including South Afica and Russia? ya

the Hawaiian nation. No wonder there is now a stepping away by Hawaiians
aind their supporters from the celebratory spirit of the American festivitics on
this sacred American holiday

Hawai'i, by July, 1894, was divided into two separate camps, the

missionary boys"/annexationists and the Hawaiian loyalist. The first camp
comsisted, by and large, of foreigners and missionary descendants active in the
mercantile aifairs of Hawai'i. Sugar was a primary commodity and the United
Statex of America, their primary market. They favored annexation of Hawai'i to
the United States of America. Annexation would overcome the burden of any
iport tariff or wther discriminatory teeatment the U.S. would impose on for
Hasaitan goods competing with domestic produce.

The Hawaiian morarchy had existed under a constitutional framework

Anctica, Liliuokalani yielded her authority to the Unied States of America, for

a time, pending an investigation by the U.S. President of the interference by the
United States military in the intemal affairs of Hawai'i. s

President Grover Cleveland's investigator, Minister James Blount. traveled
to Hawai'i, conducted his study and reported to Cleveland who in fum
addressed both houses of the U.S. Congress. Cleveland declared:

... By an act of war, commiltted with the participation of a
diplomatic representative of the United States and without authority of
Congress, the Government of a feeble bu friendly and confiding peaple
has been overthrown. A substantial wrong has thus heen done which a
due regard for our national character as well as the rights of the injured
people requires we should endeavor to repair. The provisional
government has not assumed a republican or other constitutional form.
‘but has remained a mere executive council or oligarchy. set up without
the assent of the people. It has not sought to find a permanent hasis of
popular support and has given no evidence of an intention o do so.
Indeed, the representatives of that government assert that the people of
Hawait are unfit for popular government and frankly avow that they can
be best ruled by arbitrary or despotic power.

The law of nations is founded upon reason and justice, and the
rules of conduct governing individual relations hetween citizens or
subjects of a civilized state are equally applicable as benveen enlightened
nations. The considerations that international law is without court for
its enforcement, and that obedience 10 its commandls practically depends
upon good faith, instead. of upon the mandate of a superior wibuinal. only
give additional sanction 10 the law itself and brand any deliberate
infraction of it not merely as a wrong but as a disgrace. A man of e
honor protects the unwritten word which binds his conscicnce more
serupulously, if possible, than he does the bond u breach of which
Subjects him to legal liabilities; and the United States in aiming 0
maintain itself as one of the most enlightencd of nations would do its
citizens gross injustice if it applicd to its international relations any other
than a high standard of honor and moraliry. O that er-und the United
States can not properly be put in the position of cowntenancing a wrong
after its commission any more than in that of consenting o i in advunce.
On that ground it can not allow itself t0 refuse to redvess an injury
inflcted through an abuse of power by officers clothed with its authority
and wearing its uniform; and on the same ground. if a feehle but friendly
state is in danger of being robbed of ts independence and its sovercignty
by a misuse of the name and power of the United States. the United Statc
can ot fail to vindicate its honor and its sense of justice by an carnest
effort to make all possible reparation.

“The members of the Provisional Government heeded Cleveland’s SL
condemnation, not by wing over the powers of govemment to Queen Ll uokalani,
but by carrying out a pretense of legitimacy by calling for a constitutional convention
10 sew ogether the necessary garment 1o produce a legitiniate appearance. Sanford
B. Dole, son of early missionary to Hawai'i, Daniel Dole, acting as President of the
Provisional Govemment, summoned a constitutional convention. In that call, he
appointed 19 of 4 thinty seven member convention. For these 19 delegates. he
selected himself and his 18 cabinet members. The balance of 18 were 1o be elected
by the Hawaiian people. But only those who disavowed their loyalty 1o Queen
Lili'uokalani and pledged their allegiance 10 the provisional govemment were
pennitted 10 seek (0 become delegates o vote in this election. Thus, the convention
was doomed from the start o produce this cloak of legitimacy for the annexationisis.

On the 4 of July, 1894, there assembled on the sicps of *lolani Palace men
who styled themselves in the patriotic thetoric of American noble principles and
proceeded 10 do just the opposite. On that fateful day. a handiul of men representing
clear minority of the adult population of Hawai'i. well protected by guns kept out
of public sight, proceeded to declare the Republic of Hawai'i into exisience. At an
B0 am. e apparenily uncomfortable by the deed they were o commit,
William O. Swith, master of ceremonies, dispensed with the opening prayer and
procecded with e business of proclaiming their new consitution inio existence.
Sanford Dole read an address and made the formal proclamation, resuling in his

utomatic ascension (o President with a monthly stipend of $1.000. No reference (o

United States of America at the first opportunity.

When William McKinley replaced Cleveland as President, Dole’s group rushed
